Emotional Songs

Emotional Songs

Emotional songs are never stuck in one genre. From rock, to alternative, to country, to even hip-hop, there is always one or two of those that truly emotional. This is because we can’t detach ourselves from the music. They’re art; they’re extensions of the person making the song, and most of the time, their brilliant.

If you’re looking to find some very emotional songs that ring true with you, then there are so many genres to look through, but if you want to start slow, here are some suggestions.

Thief, Our lady peace

As emotional songs go, thief is possible one of the most meaningful songs about loss there is. The main theme of the song itself is the loss of a loved one through cancer. But the thing here is that it never becomes overbearing with emotions. It’s about staying strong for the one that you love in their time of most need, even if it does mean losing them.

“I can’t see that thief that lives inside of your head/ but I can be some courage at the side of your bed”-Excerpt from Thief

Rylynn, Andy Mckee

Emotional songs don’t require you to have strong lyrics, or thought provoking ideas. Sometimes it’s just the instrumentally jarring goodness of a well played guitar. With rylynn, you can get swept away to the sounds of each strum and pluck. It’s a very moody song, and it doesn’t need lyrics to do that.

Mardy Bum, Arctic Monkeys

Another fun one among emotional songs is Mardy bum. The song itself starts out as quite cheery, sweet in fact. But as you listen even closer to the lyrics, you hear about the turmoil of a dying relationship, and why it’s so hard to remain in love. “The inevitable self destruction of a bad relationship” is what best sums up the meaning of this song.

“Remember cuddles in the Kitchen/ yeah to get things off the ground/ And it was all up, up and away”-Excerpt from Mardy bum
